President Trump is addressing the nation during primetime on Wednesday evening from the Diplomatic Reception Room.
He began his speech talking about how his administration “inherited a mess” with the remarks also touching on immigration.
The House passed a partisan health care bill that didn’t include an extension of ObamaCare tax subsidies on Wednesday evening, with the support of moderate Republicans who earlier in the day joined a Democratic effort to vote on an extension.
The GOP bill passed without difficulty, 216-211. Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) joined all Democrats in voting against the bill.
Earlier, Republican Reps. Brian Fitzpatrick (Pa.), Mike Lawler (N.Y.), Rob Bresnahan (Pa.) and Ryan Mackenzie (Pa.) broke with their party.
Over in the Senate, the National Defense Authorization Act passed by a 77-20 vote, sending it to President Trump’s desk.
Trump visited Dover, Del., for the dignified transfer of the remains of two National Guard soldiers killed in Syria over the weekend. At 9 p.m., he will address the nation from the White House.
Trump does not mention Venezuela in address

Trump declined to mention Venezuela in his primetime address amid rising tensions between Washington and Caracas.
While Trump did not mention Venezuela, he did mention the administration’s work to stop the flow of “drugs brought in by ocean and by sea.”
The address came shortly after the Pentagon announced another strike on a vessel that killed four “narcoterrorists,” according to the Pentagon.
Trump says he’ll announce Fed pick soon

Trump said he would announce his pick for the next chair of the Federal Reserve, predicting the individual would lower interest rates.
“I’ll soon announce our next chairman of the Federal Reserve, someone who believes in lower interest rates, by a lot, and mortgage payments will be coming down even further,” Trump said.
